Areas like Australia are seeing less of the virus this year...so, there stands reasoning that perhaps the shots are a bit much.
There is a Tamiflu-resistant strain of swine flu now.
50 comments on the Public Opinion story from Oct 9, 2009, titled Letter to the Editor: H1N1 vaccinations are necessary.
In it, Public Opinion reports that: As an epidemiologist, a scientist who studies diseases and disease trends, I have been deeply involved in the study of influenza for a number of years.
It isn't unreasonable for the government to encourage everyone to get vaccinated in the name of the greater good. A month or so ago, they said older people and young ones would be most vulnerable to the swine flu; the DC news last night said they have some vaccine to distribute, but they said they were available to people from 2 - 49.
The last thing we need are health care workers all down with the flu when the rest of us need care. Another thread full of paranoid government conspiracies and simple-minded misunderstandings of how viruses work. So WHO is most at risk - THEY don't even seem to know!
Then why is this flu shot so important I must take this one? If I do get the pig flu shot is there a guarantee I won't get the pig flu? I'm getting a regular flu shot, but not a swine flu shot - I think a 2nd shot is just redundant.
Do what the Obama administation is suggesting in high risk groups getting the Swine Flu shot & thereby helping to hold the flu pandemic under control making Obama look good? "First, the vaccine does not cause the disease."Wrong. Read the insert."Second, the vaccine does not only protect the person receiving it."Then why take it?
Or worse, having health care workers coming to work sick and infecting people who are already weakened by other illnesses. Another thread full of paranoid government conspiracies and simple-minded misunderstandings of how viruses work. You wingnut rednecks never let me down with your stupid theories and moronic conclusions about benign matters. I believe most people outside of the 2-49 age range (The higher side) have already been Vaccinated for the Swine flu in the 70's or at least have been exposed to it before.
You wingnut rednecks never let me down with your stupid theories and moronic conclusions about benign matters. It seems to have come back again so that is why people in the 2-49 demo need the shot due to lack of exposure Hey Eric, what about your family.
And those healthcare people working with potential swine flu and/or swine flu patients. Frankly I see no reason to get flu shots if you are a healthy individual, this is not any more severe a flu than the seasonal strain, and it certaily isn't going to kill a healthy individual. This innoculation also contains Thimerisol, which was convroversial enough to be removed from almost all childhood immunizations due to casual links to autism (it is 50% mercury, not good stuff) which have been proven or disproven, depending on who you believe.
Personally I think all this hype is just to produce a huge revenue stream for the pharmeceutical industry. Also note fatalities are being reported as a combination of H1NI AND regular seasonal flu, why, I'm not sure. Totally different strain, but it should be noted hundreds of people were killed or seriously injured by the vaccination, far more than by the actual flu.
